Putni stroeji SP JSC-Veliko Turnovo becomes subcontractor of Glavbolgarstroy for the reconstruction of 36-km segment from the main road Pleven-Russe, was reported from the company. The funds are provided on Transit roads programme. The company is in a process of privatisation and is expected the procedure to finish by the end of March.

Glavbolgarstroy wants to have 48 per cent in the Bulgarian consortium for construction of the petrol pipe Burgas - Alexandrupolis. The Minister of Regional Development and Construction Mr. Valentin Tzerovski gave a deadline of one week to the 9 companies, declared their participation in the petrol pipe to agree for the shares that will hold in the company Bulgarian operation company.

Glavbolgarstroy is expecting the amount of its construction business in 2003 to reach USD 100-150 million. This was announced by the General Executive Director of the company Mr. Evgeni Marinov. The company is 100-per cent private. Last year, the amount of construction was USD 35 million. The main sites of construction were based in Russia, Kazakhstan and Turkey. The company intends to keep its leading position on the Bulgarian construction market.

If in the next several months Bulgaria does not choose, which project is more profitable (Burgas-Alexandrupolis or Burgas-Vliora), our country won’t execute its dream to be a part of the world petrol puzzle. The common thing between the two projects for the time being is the lack of guarantees for the quantities of petrol that will be necessary for the pipes. Bulgaria has not still selected its companies that will take part in the project. The candidates for Bulgarian consortiums are 10. Two companies for the biggest share – LUKoil-Bulgaria and Minstroy. The rival between them started in the time of the former Government. Then the Governors promised 68 per cent to LUKoil Bulgaria, Minstroy had to take 20 per cent, Glavbolgarstroy and Gazstroymontaj – 5 per cent each and Chimkomplekt – 2 per cent.

The Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Mr. Valentin Tzerovski announced that in Bulgaria there are other companies with potential, which may participate in the construction of the pipe-line Bourgas-Alexandrupolis. The Austrian chain of hypermarkets Billa will open over this year 5 new objects and will invest over EUR 20 million, announced the Financial Director of Billa Bulgaria Ms. Evdokia Todorova. According to her the strategy of the company is to build 4-5 objects per year that will be situated in towns with a population over 80 000 people. Another two objects will be opened in Sofia, one of which in the district of Lujlin. Billa also intends to open its first hypermarkets in Varna and Pleven during this year. The Austrian company came to Bulgaria in October, 2000 and so far has built 9 objects.

The competition among the tenth companies for participation in the Bulgarian consortium Trans-Balkan Oil Pipeline Bulgaria for the construction of the oil-pipeline Bourgas-Alexandrupolis entered a new phase. Shareholders of Company for luxury hotels JSC, which manages to Sofia-based Hilton hotel, are willing to sell their shares. The reason for this are the bad financial results. That’s why the counselors decided that the municipality should quickly sell its share in the company, which is 13.86 per cent. The other shareholders are Sibex, Hilton International and Glavbolgaristroy.

Full thorough examinations of trucks will be performed at Border Checkpoint Kulata in 8 months. In this term, the construction of a new customs terminal and storage at the checkpoint will be finished. Currently, an average of 700-800 trucks a day and 40 000 cars a month pass through Kulata. The construction is financed under a project of the World Bank to the total value of EUR 13 million. EUR 7.7 million of them are from the World bank, EUR 3.87 million are from the budget and EUR 1 million – aid from USA. The project for Kulata is to the total value of EUR 1.277 million, and the executor is Glavbolgarstroy.

The construction consortium Unistroy was elected for executor of the construction of the new building of Bourgas Free University.There were six participant in the auction for the election of the executor, among which were the local division of Glavbolgarstory and Transstroy. EUR 100 000 owes the Italian company Todini to the Bulgarian company Moststroy for executed works on the segment Dupnitza – Kulata for which Todini won the tender in accordance with PHARE programme. At the moment the Italians still discuss the certificate for the work of Moststroy in September, October and November, 2002. The construction-mounting activities are evaluated by the supervisor of the project for EUR 100 000.

The election of an executor of the reconstruction of third block of thermal power station Rousse-Iztok of Toplofikatzia-Rousse is not clear yet, although the management of the power station ceased the procedure for the election last week with the motif that there was not competition. The consortium TPS Rousse 2003 declared that it shall appeal the decision of the management of the thermal power station before the Supreme Administrative court.

Leading Bulgarian and Romanian companies will establish Bulgarian-Romanian Trade Industrial Chamber tomorrow in Rousse by initiative of Prista oil, said the Director of the company Mr. Atanas Bobokov. 25 Bulgarian companies confirmed their participation in the chamber. The National Incomes Agency opened a procedure for reconstruction of its building in Plovdiv. The term for execution of the order is May 30, 2004. It is expected that the value of the reconstruction will reach BGN 3 million, including VAT. Minstroy owes over BGN 23 million to 35 construction companies from Varna and Dobrich. The debts of the company, which is a part of the structure of MG corporation, to the local entrepreneurs date several years ago. During this period the companies have worked on objects of Minstroy, but they have not received the bigger part of their payment. The entrepreneurs have tried almost all kinds of actions to collect their fees. They have initiated court procedures, which they won, but it became clear that Mintsroy has almost no assets, which could be gained as compensations.

EUR 10 million will be granted by EU, and EUR 5 331 043 by the Bulgarian Government, for 21 road sections leading to places of tourist interest. Consortium Rodopi, consortium Trakia, Mesohoriti - Patni Stroezhi - Veliko Turnovo and Glavbolgarstroy won the tenders in the project under the PHARE programme. The execution contracts were signed yesterday, which is the starting date of the 15 months, within which the construction activities should be completed.The contract for LOT 1 is fo EUR 3 105 000.

As of the summer of 2004, the vacation club Riviera will have a new hotel part, in which between BGN 10 million and BGN 11 million will be invested, Ms. Ludmila Nenkova – Executive Director of the company announced. According to her, the new hotel section will be a part of the five-star hotel Riviera Beach. It will be five-star and will have 250 beds, situated in rooms and apartments. The new hotel part should be completed before May 1 2004 by the executor Glavbolgarstroy, which constructed the exisiting part of the hotel Riviera Beach last year.
