Bulgarian Transport Minister Ivaylo Moskovski issued an order on Tuesday, ending the contract of the executive director of Port Varna Bozhidar Chaparov. Chaparov, who had been appointed during the government of Prime Minister Plamen Oresharski, was also dismissed from the board of directors of the port, Darik radio reports. Moskovski appointed as his successor Petar Seferov, who prior to assuming his new position on Tuesday, was director of port Varna-West. Seferov used to be director general of the Bulgarian Ports Infrastructure Company between 2005 and 2009. Port Varna registered a record turnover of above BGN 7 M in 2014 and at present has BGN 13 M in its accounts.

Port Varna watches over containers Port of Varna JSC joined the project Securing Transit Containers (SETRACON). It is funded by the European Commission through the Joint Operational Programme Black Sea Basin 2007-2013 and with national funds. The beneficiary of the project is the Thessaloniki Technology Institute Alexander and partners are Port of Varna, port of Alexandroupolis and National Marine University in Odessa. The total cost of the project is EUR 532,785, 90% of which are from the EU. The project aims to ensure the security of sealed containers and their safe transportation between ports. The project is expected to improve the management and security of container transport and to deepen cooperation in the Black Sea and the Aegean. The project includes the implementation of the four groups of activities, among which is the development of an electronic application to track the movement of containers in real time. Representatives of the Port of Varna recently visited the port of Alexandroupolis, where experts from both ports discussed specific tasks for project implementation.

11 . . BGN 11 mln invested in the modernization of port Varna Port of Varna, which was officially opened on May 18, 1906, welcomed its 109th anniversary with excellent results. Over 3.6 mln tons of cargo was handled at the port this year, which is 15% more compared to the same period last year. A major share of this is cereals and loads of Devnya chemical plants. The statistics reported growth of 8.9% in another essential cargo of Port Varna - the containers. Until now have been reloaded over 51 thousand TEUs. In the first third of the year, the port has processed newly attracted cargo - 29 thousand tons of gas pipes for Azerbaijan. Total amount of revenues to the end of April is up 30.5%, which exceeds BGN 23 million. Until now, Port Varna realized investments amounting to over BGN 2 million for the supply of machinery and equipment and BGN 1.1 million for port infrastructure following its policy for constant modernization and technological development. The total value of planned investments of Port Varna EAD during the year exceeds BGN 11 million.

We are interested in investing in ports in Bulgaria, said Rear Admiral Nguyen Dang Nghiem, Vice-Chairman and Director General of Saigon Newport. The corporation is a military and economic alliance that develops in three main areas - port and logistics services and shipping. The Vietnam-based Corporation is among the largest companies in the socialist republic, which spends much of its profits for social programs. Saigon Newport manages three ports in the city of Ho Chi Minh, three ports in Kai Leader Mep, two ports in the middle Vietnam, three ports in the city of Hai Phong and five river ports in the Mekong Delta. Last year the 30 companies part of Saigon Newport processed over 4.8 million containers, which is 50% of the total volume of container cargo in the Socialist Republic.

Varna Port implement program for attracting new transit cargo Over 1000 tons of equipment with final beneficiary companies in Asia will be processed at the Port of Varna within a month, according to the press office of the port. Yesterday terminal Varna - West begun processing of two ships that deliver over 200 oversized elements with special technical designation. This is part of the program of Port Varna to attract new transit cargo. The two ships, which are processed at the moment are BBC Campana, flying the flag of Antigua and Barbuda and Industrial Revoliution, flying the flag of Liberia. They are specialized in the transport of heavy and oversized cargo. Over 3.6 mln tons of cargo was handled in the port until May this year, which is 15% more compared to the same period last year. A major share of this amount occupy cereals and loads of Devnya chemical plants.
