Transmetrics has developed software for more efficient sea container shipping The Bulgarian start-up company Transmetrics developed a new platform to optimize the use of transport company assets. It will fully implement the system by the middle of 2018 in the Dutch logistics company NileDuch for water transport of containers from and to West Africa. The two companies have signed an open-ended contract. The new AssetMetrics software aims to predict the use of logistics assets, which according to Transmetrics would lead to a 15% reduction in business costs. The company reported that its revenues for 2017 are approximately BGN 300,000 but it is still not profitable. Transmetrics is forecast to end 2018 with revenues of just under BGN 2 million, but probably the company will still not report profits. At the moment, Transmetrics's customers are forwarding companies DHL and Speedy, part of the DPD group. Company’s team now numbers 23 people, with a major part of them being a technical team based in Bulgaria.

Trace Group, Holding Varna enter Sofia bourse blue-chip index The Bulgarian Stock Exchange (BSE) said it will add construction company Trace Group Hold and diversified group Holding Varna to its blue-chip index SOFIX as part of the semi-annual rebalancing of the index. The two companies will replace chemical fertiliser producer Neochim and hydraulic equipment manufacturer M+S Hydraulic in the SOFIX index base as of March 19, the BSE said in a statement late on Thursday. The SOFIX tracks the 15 most liquid shares on the BSE. The BSE also revised the composition of two of its other indices. Speedy, Toplivo and Severcoop Gamza Holding will be added to the index base of the broader BGBX40 index. They will replace Yuri Gagarin [BUL:4PX], Bulland Investments and Sparky Eltos. Regarding the BGTR30 index, in which companies with a free float of at least 10% have equal weight, the BSE decided to add Sopharma Properties, Korado Bulgaria and Synergon Holding, which will replace Odessos Shiprepair Yard, Holding Nov Vek and Regala Invest in the index base. No changes will be made to the composition of the BGREIT index which tracks the performance of real estate investment trusts.

Bulgaria's Speedy in talks to acquire Rapido for up to 12 mln euro Bulgarian express delivery company Speedy [BUL:0SP] said on Thursday that it has entered talks for the acquisition of its local peer Rapido Express and Logistics for between 6 million euro and 12 million euro ($7.1 million - $14.2 million). The final price of the deal depends on the financial results of Rapido Express and Logistics and will be paid in instalments for 30 months, Speedy said in a bourse filing. The contract will be submitted to the Commission for Protection of Competition. The deal will be finalised upon receiving approval from the competition regulator and satisfaction of all necessary conditions, the statement reads.

Bulgaria's Speedy receives anti-trust nod to buy Rapido, gets fine for not disclosing info Bulgaria's competition regulator said that it has given clearance to local express delivery company Speedy [BUL:0SP] to acquire its peer Rapido Express and Logistics. At the same time, the Commission for Protection of Competition fined Speedy 205,622 levs because the company had failed to disclose the fact that Rapido Express and Logistics acquired assets of local peer D&D Express in March, the regulator said in its decision, published late on Thursday. The fine is equal to 0.2% of Speedy's turnover in 2017. In terms of courier services on the domestic market, Speedy holds the second place with a market share of 20-30%, while Rapido Express and Logistics has a market share of 5-10%. Following the acquisition, Speedy will keep its second place after the market leader, Econt Express, which holds a market share of 40-50%. Regarding international courier services, the combined market share of Speedy and Rapido amounts to 20-30%, while the market leader - DHL Bulgaria, has a market share of 30-40%. In May, Speedy said it has entered talks for acquisition of Rapido Express and Logistics for a price of between 6 million euro and 12 million euro ($7 million - $14 million). The final price of the deal depends on the financial results of Rapido Express and Logistics and will be paid in instalments over 30 months, Speedy said at the time.
